Banger Bust Up

The idea behind the Banger Bust Up is you buy a car for £500 or less, decorate it and wear some fancy dress, then take your banger across Europe with your teammates. And doing so you raise money for a charity of your choice, along the way you will be completing Top Gear style challenges, competing for points. The team with the most points at the end of the rally win a £500 prize to either donate to your charity or split between teammates.

The Route
We`ve taken this rally in a completely new direction this year, heading for Portugal. This is a much bigger, and more challenging route than our previous Croatia route.

Once again you have a £500 budget for your banger, but you may notice above it says – Year of the Unsuitable Supermini. I bet you`re wondering what that means right? well, you will be doing a long grueling drive of approximately 2,500 miles, so what better car to do it in, than something completely unsuitable for the challenge.

We figured a supermini was about as bad as it could be, so that’s what you will be tasked with buying with your £500 budget, maybe a Fiat Cinquecento, a Toyota Aygo, maybe even a Smart Car.

You must support a charity to take part in this rally, you can choose any charity you want. Set yourself a target of how much you want to raise, and get people to sponsor you.

You will be choosing your own route on this rally, with only a rough route given out by the support team. At the start of the rally, you will be given a rally pack with each days destination, as well as points of interest and places/thing to do to complete challenges.

It`s down to you to sort your accommodation, the info pack you receive once booked on has all the cities and towns we stay at during the rally, then you can find accommodation that suits you and your budget, you can stay in 5* hotels, B&B or Camp.
