Williams release images of their 2015 car; the FW37

On Tuesday evening, the Williams team released images of its 2015 car to the media, thereby being the first team to do so this season.

But on Wednesday, the Williams team have released two images of its new challenger, named the FW37 after team founder Sir Frank Williams. Of most interest is the “thumb” nose which follows changes in the 2015 regulations.

There has been a lot of discussion about the new rose of the Williams FW37 on social media such as Twitter with many pundits and fans hating the “ugly nose”, with a slim few believing that the car is beautiful and has a more “polished” feel. People may like or not like the direction that the Williams team have gone in, but they have designed this car in the best way they can, under the regulations and let us not forget that they know more about this than us.

In my opinion, I am not taken with the nose but if that is the best way and direction for the Williams team to undergo to be competitive, then so be it. As for the rest of the car, it looks more refined and polished especially at the sides and at the rear of the car too. This only shows that the team have worked incredibly hard to evolve from last season and keep on improving their performances as a result of this too.

The rendered image of the car is due to appear in the February edition of F1 Racing magazine, though the team’s official launch date is yet to be confirmed. Last year Williams finished third in the constructors’ championship and, after recovering from a slow start, spent much of the season as best of the rest behind Mercedes.

Will this season see Williams improve even further on their 2014 performances with the FW37? Only time will tell.
