Techno-Classica Essen 2016

This year this fabulous event attracted more than 200,000 visitors over the four and a half days, and on the Wednesday “Happy View Day” I had never seen it so busy.

Not surprising really, as for 2016, additional halls were added, and the Coys Auction moved to a single room on the upper level, which was a lot easier and more impressive.

With 21 Halls full of beautiful cars, Automobilia and parts and equipment this has got to be one of the best shows in the world for showcasing the Automobile Industry, and it is easy to see why it attracts so many visitors from all over the world. Cars range from the ordinary to the truly extraordinary, and this year's 127,000 square meters of exhibition space and four outdoor areas housed 2700 vehicles for sale over the 5 days.

Just to give a feel for this event, there were this year 1250 exhibitors and 27 makes represented with premieres of the following

Alfa Romeo Giulia
Abarth 124 Rally
Bitter Mokka
Opel GT Concept
Citroen E-Mehari and Citroen Space Tourer
Volvo V90 and S 90

As always the central SIHA display was the centrepiece of the show, this year paying tribute to The 1955 Mille Miglia, with Ferrari 750 Monza, Fiat 8V Zagato, Maserati 300S Maserati A6 GCS Mercedes-Benz 300SLR and Osca MT4 1500 and Porsche 550 Spyder on display

It's easy to see why 40% of the show vehicles are sold during this show, the standars of presentation on some of the cars is simply sensational, and t is easy to become a bit overwhelmed by the number of Gullwings, Pergodas, 250 Californias, Miuras and E-types on show.

We travelled by air from the UK to Dusseldorf then by train and underground to the doors of the exhibition show, so it couldn't be easier to get to. If you are there for the full show, book in at the Atlantic Hotel on site, where you are bound to meet other like-minded petrolheads.

Although my feet ache from all the walking, I can't wait to get back in 2017 again. Check out the photos, you can't fail to be impressed by Techno-Classica surely
