It's almost impossible to explain how good this show is, this was only my second year, and I went last year on the recommendation of a friend, and boy was he right. This show is simply stunning.
This is the 26th year of Essen, where over 2500 collectors cars are on sale, some other numbers to consider:
1250 Exhibitors from 30 Countries
20 Halls and 4 outside display areas, full of great cars, spares and Automobilia
220 Classic car clubs and related associations with some great displays
190000 Visitors and growing year on year.
This year's highlights included 120 years of Mercedes-Benz Motorsport, 110 years of Rolls Royce, 100 years of Maserati, 95 years of Zagato and 90 years of BMW Motorsports. Also 40 years of VW Golf, 50 years of Lamborghini 350 GT as well as several other landmark anniversaries including 60 years of the D Type Jaguar.
If you follow me on Twitter @DrivinforPleasure you will already have seen some of the photos from the show, and I have tried to give a flavour of what the show is all about
Wednesday is the first day of the show, called by the organisers SIHA Happy View Day/Preview, although it costs more than the other 4 days, it's well worth the cost, as there are fewer visitors and enables you to get up close and personal with the exhibits, and photography is easier.
The Mercedes Benz Motorsport stand was the star of the show for me, featuring Grand Prix cars from 1914 up to the present day, simply stunning.
The HK Engineering stand in the same hall featured 6 Gullwing Mercedes and several immaculate 190 SL's where else would you be able to see such a great selection of cars
My favourite cars, The Fiat 8V Vignale bodied, and a Ferrari 275 GTS, but every day on every stand there were more great cars to enjoy.
I could go on, but quite frankly the only way to enjoy Techno Classica is to get yourself over to the Show in 2015, I promise you that you will be staggered at the quality and variety of the cars on view, and like me, you will put the show in your diary for years to come
