Susie Wolff receives an MBE

It was announced yesterday morning that former Williams test driver Susie Wolff has been made a Member of the British Empire (MBE) in the Queen’s New Years Honours list.

Wolff, who retired at the end of 2015, has been honoured for her services to women in sport. While still an active driver, she became the first female to participate in a grand prix weekend for 22 years when she took part in FP1 for Williams at the 2014 British Grand Prix in 2014.

She went on to accumulate three more grand prix weekend appearances and four test sessions in 2014 and 2015. Since retiring, she’s established the ‘Dare to be Different’ initiative, which works with the UK’s governing body, the MSA, to increase female participation in all levels of motor racing.

All I can say is that Wolff truly does deserve her MBE for her services to motorsport. She has been nothing but an inspiration and a role model to many motorsport fans (including myself) with how she has approached her racing career with professionalism, passion and true determination and grit. All of us at Driving for Pleasure want to congratulate Susie on this fantastic achievement.
