Sebastian Vettel tops the timesheets in FP3 in Montreal as Kevin Magnussen crashes

In the final practice session in Montreal, Sebastian Vettel set the pace ahead of Max Verstappen and Nico Rosberg in session which saw Renault driver Kevin Magnussen crashing into the latter stages of the session at Turn 7 which saw the session not being able to restart.

With half an hour left during FP3, Toro Rosso driver Daniil Kvyat went down the escape road before Turn 3 after it appears that he did not hit anything or had contact with anything.

He managed to get the car rolling and was able to continue on with the session. It was at this point that the rain hit the Gilles Villeneuve circuit and we didn't truly see just how competitive for example the Red Bull team could be on their new ultra-soft Pirelli tyres.

With just 13 minutes left into the session, Kevin Magnussen hit the wall massively coming out of Turn 7 after trying to get the power down going out of the corner. The Renault was completely destroyed on the left hand side and this brought out the Red Flag in order to for the marshals to get to Magnussen to see if he is okay and to safely recover the Renault off the track.

It was then announced that the session would not be restarted after the marshals and the race director took a look at the damage at the barriers and also it was starting to rain heavily.

But it was Sebastian Vettel who was fastest with a lap time of 1.13.919 ahead of Max Verstappen in second place who was 0.239 seconds behind him and ahead of Nico Rosberg in third place who was 0.397 seconds behind Vettel.

Kimi Raikkonen finished the session in fourth place ahead of Lewis Hamilton in fifth place, Daniel Ricciardo in sixth place, Carlos Sainz Jr in seventh place, Fernando Alonso in eighth place, Sergio Perez in ninth place and Felipe Massa who rounded off the top ten finishers.

Nico Hulkenberg ended the session in eleventh place ahead of Valtteri Bottas in twelfth place, Jenson Button in thirteenth place, Daniil Kvyat in fourteenth place and Esteban Gutierrez in fifteenth place.

As we head into the latter stages of the grid, Jolyon Palmer ended the session in sixteenth place ahead of Romain Grosjean in seventeenth place, Marcus Ericsson in eighteenth place, Kevin Magnussen in nineteenth place, Felipe Nasr in twentieth place, Pascal Wehrlein in twenty-first place and. Rio Haryanto in twenty-second place.
