Renault.edams driver and Formula E Championship leader Sebastian Buemi was fastest in the second practice session for the Buenos Aires ePrix. Buemi's fast laptime of a 1:08.771 was nearly four tenths of a second quicker than his pole position time at the e-prix here last year.
Buemi's nearest championship rival, Lucas Di Grassi finished in second place 0.539 seconds off of Buemi's fastest time as he split the two e.Dams Renault cars, with Nico Prost only one thousandth of a second behind Di Grassi in third place.
Sam Bird, who was the quickest in the first free practice session, finished in fourth being 0.714 seconds off the pace of Buemi. Antonio Felix Da Costa in the Aguri car finished fifth in the session and was only five thousandths of a second off of Bird's lap time.
Jean Eric Vergne, who took no part in the first free practice session, spoke to Nicki Shields and confirmed that he would take part in the remainder of the race weekend after suffering with food poisoning. However he never left the garage and there is still some doubt over whether he will take part in the e-prix tomorrow or whether Jose Maria Lopez will cover for Vergne after having a seat fitting earlier on today.
There was a lot of action for the Amlin Andretti team as Simona De Silvestro, who had a very heavy impact with the pit lane wall in the first free practice session, did a limited amount of running compared to others, finishing the session in 13th in order to “save her car for qualifyingâ€.
Meanwhile her team mate Robin Frijns in the other Andretti car stopped out on track between turns two and three, but was still quick enough to finish 11th in the session.
Much like in the first practice session, a Mahindra was the slowest in practice with Bruno Senna being 1.939 seconds off the pace of Buemi. Meanwhile the other Mahindra of Heidfeld, who was the slowest in the earlier practice session, was the 12th quickest person this session.
