Sam Bird will start the Buenos Aires ePrix from his and DS Virgin's first-ever Julius Baer pole position in the series. With Bird running in the top four during the practice session, he was able to manage to get a fast lap together to claim his first ever Pole Position.
The two-time race winner was only fourth in the qualifying group stages, but put a lap together when it mattered to seal a crucial pole. Bird beat Nico Prost who qualifies in second place and ahead of Antonio Felix da Costa, who will line-up third in the Team Aguri car using season one technology. He put in a great performance and was just 0.01s off the front row too.
Stephane Sarrazin was the fastest man in the group stages, but the Venturi driver was unable to repeat his performance and will line up fourth, just ahead of his new team-mate Mike Conway, who did an exceptional job to make it to Super Pole.
Nico Prost will line-up alongside Bird on the front row, but it was a terrible session for his Renault e.dams team-mate Sebastien Buemi. The championship leader spun on his 200kW lap and will start from 18th and last on the grid.
With Buemi in trouble, it was the perfect opportunity for his championship rival Lucas di Grassi to capitalise, but he made a small error on his flying lap and missed Super Pole and will start seventh, behind Robin Frijns, who starts sixth for Andretti.
