Nico Rosberg remains at the top of the timesheets in the second Practice session in Bahrain

In the second practice session in Bahrain, Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg topped the timesheets ahead of his team mate Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button; showing that they have built on what they have achieved in the first session.

With many teams and drivers choosing FP2 to define tyre choices and set ups for the race on Sunday, it was only during the last fifteen minutes of the session that Sebastian Vettel was going slowly around the track and informing his team via the radio “that he has lost drive.”

The Virtual Safety Car was then deployed as Vettel came to a standstill and helped the marshals push the car safely away from the circuit. We then also saw a front wing endplate coming off Romain Grosjean's Haas which gave him a puncture after going too far off the rumblestrips and going off the track. This then called the Virtual Safety Car in order for the debris to be recovered off the track.

But it was Nico Rosberg who was fastest with a lap time of 1.31.001 ahead of Lewis Hamilton in second place who was 0.241 seconds behind him and ahead of Jenson Button in a brilliant third place who was 1.280 seconds behind Rosberg.

Max Verstappen finished the session in fourth place ahead of Kimi Raikkonen in fifth place, Sebastian Vettel in sixth place, Daniil Kvyat in seventh place, Valtteri Bottas in eighth place and Daniel Ricciardo in ninth place and Felipe Massa who rounded off the top ten finishers.
Stoffel Vandoorne ended the session in a brilliant eleventh place ahead of Esteban Gutierrez in twelfth place, Carlos Sainz Jr in thirteenth place, Romain Grosjean in fourteenth place and Sergio Perez in fifteenth place.

As we head into the latter stages of the grid, Kevin Magnussen ended the session in sixteenth place ahead of Nico Hulkenberg in seventeenth place and ahead of Jolyon Palmer in eighteenth place. Pascal Wehrlein finished the session in nineteenth place ahead of Marcus Ericsson in twentieth place, Felipe Massa in twenty-first place and Rio Haryanto in twenty-second place.
