Nasr records his fourth GP2 victory of the season

The unpredictable weather of Spa-Francorchamps left the circuit surface damp in places and dry in places ahead of the race. Air temperatures of 11°C wasn't helping dry the track out.

Pole sitter Daniel Abt lost out at the start to a fast starting Felipe Nasr who took the race lead from the German. He also lost positions to Johnny Cecotto and Jolyon Palmer. Artem Markelov had a terrible getaway off the line from second place and by the end of the second lap he was already down in P12 – he would later retire from the race. Yesterday's race winner Raffaele Marciello suffered a spin at Les Combes on the first lap and tumbled down to P24.

Abt was told by his race engineer Sean Thompson to push hard in the first sector to pass Palmer in third place but he was unable to respond. André Negrão was another driver unable to respond; he was passed by Mitch Evans and Stoffel Vandoorne within a few corners and dropped to P9.

Adrian Quaife-Hobbs was sitting in the points paying positions all race long until he tried to take Eau Rouge flat out. His Rapax suffered understeer and hit a bump on the exit. His front wing was damaged and an impromptu pit stop dropped the Briton down to P21.

Stefano Coletti's race started from 24th place on the grid but overtake after overtake allowed him to peak in seventh place. He collected two points for his efforts; an unbelievable effort.

At the front of the race Johnny Cecotto had been pressuring race leader Felipe Nasr from the beginning. By the last couple of laps the Brazilian had found extra pace and stretched his lead with the fastest lap of the race to 3.4 seconds. After looking good for a podium finish, Abt slowed coming onto the Kemmel straight which allowed Evans into fourth place.

18 laps of racing came to an end and it was Felipe Nasr recording his fourth race victory of the season ahead of Johnny Cecotto who took two podiums in two days. Despite finishing on the podium again, Jolyon Palmer championship lead was cut to 32 points.
