Mercedes reveal pictures of their 2015 car; the W06

Yesterday evening, the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team released the first official pictures of the W06 after a filming day at Silverstone.

The Mercedes AMG Petronas W06 Hybrid was first in the hands of last years Formula 1 championship runner up Nico Rosberg, before being handed over to World Champion Lewis Hamilton.

After leaving the pit lane for the first time at 1:13pm, the car, powered by their PU106B hybrid power unit, completed eighteen laps (47.2 kilometres) in total before the session was curtailed by a snow blizzard.

My first impressions of the W06 is that it is a lovely looking car, looks very well packaged together and also that the nose is slightly more to the ground and more refined than last year. But that is due to the new technical regulations this season regarding the front noses of the Formula One cars.

The W06 is set to be officially launched on the first day of pre-season testing at Jerez on Sunday but the team offered first glimpses of the car via Twitter with teaser videos and pictures.

The Mercedes W06 is the favourite for this years championship after their dominance of the championship last season.

Nico Rosberg will be driving the W06 on the first and third days of pre-season testing and Lewis Hamilton will be driving the W06 on the second and fourth days of the Jerez test this weekend.

Question is; will the W06 pick up where its predecessor the W05 left off? Only time will tell.
