It was announced this morning that the McLaren-Honda F1 team will launch its 2017 Formula 1 challenger on February 24, just three days before pre-season testing begins in Spain.
McLaren confirmed on Monday that it plans to unveil its car at 11am (GMT) on February 24, the same day Ferrari will uncover its 2017 car.
There have been strong rumours in the paddock that the team could return to its orange livery (which would be popular with McLaren fans like myself) could prove accurate, as the team chose the colour for its launch countdown.
McLaren-Honda will be hoping to make a big step forward this season, having finished a lowly sixth in the constructors’ championship last year, behind Williams.
With their engine supplier Honda having already confirmed plans to introduce an almost entirely new power unit (which will likely be based on the Mercedes unit) which features a split turbo; with a connecting shaft running through the engine block.
Stoffel Vandoorne joins the team full time this season having replaced Jenson Button to partner Fernando Alonso set to enter the final season of his three-year deal.
Other teams that have confirmed their launch plans include Renault, Force India and Mercedes.
