Max Verstappen surprisingly dominates FP2 in Spa

In the second practice session in Belgium, Max Verstappen set the pace ahead of his team Daniel Ricciardo and Nico Hulkenberg as the teams and drivers prepare for Qualifying tomorrow afternoon.

An hour and ten minutes into the FP2 session, Renault's Jolyon Palmer was going slowly around the track with suspected vibrations on the car. Palmer during the break between the sessions was given a brand new gearbox and is not having the best of weekends at the moment.

This then brought out the Virtual Safety Car as Palmer was assisted by the marshals safely off the circuit and to get the car back to the pits.

But it was Max Verstappen who was fastest with a lap time of 1:48.085 ahead of his team mate Daniel Ricciardo in second place who was 0.730 seconds behind him and ahead of Nico Hulkenberg in third place who was 0.572 seconds behind Verstappen.

Sebastian Vettel finished the session in fourth place ahead of Sergio Perez in fifth place, Nico Rosberg in sixth place, Kimi Raikkonen in seventh place, Romain Grosjean in eighth place, Jenson Button in ninth place and Esteban Gutierrez who rounded off the top ten finishers.

Pascal Wehrlein ended the session in eleventh place ahead of Fernando Alonso in twelfth place, Lewis Hamilton in thirteenth place, Daniil Kvyat in fourteenth place and Marcus Ericsson in fifteenth place.

As we head into the latter stages of the grid, Valtteri Bottas ended the session in sixteenth place ahead of Felipe Massa in seventeenth place, Carlos Sainz Jr in eighteenth place, Kevin Magnussen in nineteenth place, Jolyon Palmer in twentieth place, Esteban Ocon in twenty-first place and Felipe Nasr in twenty-second place.
