Lewis Hamilton tops the timesheets in FP2 in Barcelona

Yesterday afternoon in Barcelona, Lewis Hamilton topped the timesheets at the second practice session in FP2 ahead of Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel and his team mate Nico Rosberg.

Before the start of the session, Nico Rosberg received an official reprimand from the stewards regarding his pit lane infraction during FP1. In a statement from Race Control and the stewards have stated the following about giving Rosberg a reprimand today as follows:-
'The driver crossed the line separating the pit entry from the track and did not stay to the right of the bollard as required in the Race Director's event notes.'

In the first hour of the session, Lotus driver Romain Grosjean suffered an explosion of his engine cover on the start/finish straight that left debris onto the track and the session being red flagged until the debris was taken off the track. Luckily Grosjean wasn't hurt as a result of this. Also at the end of the session, Manor driver Will Stevens went off the circuit and onto the gravel trap but was luckily able to get back to the pits.

But it was Lewis Hamilton who topped the timesheets with a laptime of 1.26.852 ahead of Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel in second place who was 0.408 seconds off his pace but was ahead of his team mate Nico Rosberg in third place who was 0.7 seconds off the pace of Hamilton.

Vettel's team mate Kimi Raikkonen ended the session in fourth place ahead of the Red Bull of Daniil Kvyat in fifth place, Max Verstappen in sixth place and Jenson Button in seventh place. The Williams of Valtteri Bottas finished the session in eighth place ahead of Carlos Sainz Jr in ninth place and his team mate Felipe Massa who rounded off the top ten finishers.
