Lewis Hamilton takes his fourth Pole Position for the Canadian Grand Prix

This afternoon in in Montreal, Lewis Hamilton achieved his fourth Pole Position at the Montreal circuit and the 44th Pole Position of his career ahead of his team mate Nico Rosberg and Kimi Raikkonen.

During Q1, we saw Pastor Maldonado spinning his car into the first corner, managed to get beeched but with the help of the marshals, he was able to get going and continue for the rest of the session. The biggest surprises at the end of Q1 were that Felipe Massa and Sebastian Vettel did not get through. This is not good for both drivers or the Ferrari or the Williams team after bringing some upgrades to Canada this weekend.

But it was Lewis Hamilton who topped the timesheets with a laptime of 1.14.393 ahead of his team mate Nico Rosberg who finished in second place 0.309 seconds behind him but was ahead of Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen in third place who was 0.621 seconds behind the Mercedes drivers.

Valtteri Bottas qualified in fourth place ahead of the two Lotus drivers of Romain Grosjean and Pastor Maldonado who qualified in fifth and sixth places. Nico Hulkenberg had a great lap and qualified in seventh ahead of the two Red Bull drivers of Daniil Kvyat and Daniel Ricciardo who qualified in eight and ninth place ahead of Sergio Perez who rounded off the top ten finishers.

Carlos Sainz Jr ended the session in eleventh place ahead of his team mate Max Verstappen in twelfth place who will have to serve a penalty after his incident with Grosjean in Monaco two weeks ago. But he qualified ahead of Marcus Ericsson in thirteenth place, Fernando Alonso in fourteenth place and Felipe Nasr in fifteenth place.

As we head into the latter stages of the grid, Sebastian Vettel qualified in sixteenth place after experiencing MG-UK problems during the session ahead of Felipe Nasr in seventeenth place who suffered with power problems during the session but was ahead of the two Manor F1 drivers of Roberto Merhi and Will Stevens who qualified in eighteenth place and nineteenth places.

Jenson Button did not run in qualifying due to his car stopping in FP3 with engine problems and due to this, he needed an new engine and it wouldn't have been ready for qualifying sadly.
