Lewis Hamilton remains quickest in FP2 in Italy as Nico Rosberg closes the gap

In the second practice session in Monza this afternoon, Lewis Hamilton topped the timesheets again ahead of his team mate Nico Rosberg and Sebastian Vettel and carries the form going into the final practice session in Monza tomorrow morning.

In the first ten minutes of the session, Max Verstappen spun off the circuit at the entry of the Ascari chicane after taking too much kerb into the corner. Verstappen was extremely lucky and also showing his intelligence by engaging first gear quickly in order to keep running on the track for the remainder of the session.

But it was Lewis Hamilton who topped the timesheets with a lap time of 1.24.279. ahead of his team mate Nico Rosberg in second place who was 0.021 seconds behind him but was ahead of Sebastian Vettel who finished in third place who was 0.759 seconds behind the Mercedes of Hamilton.

Sergio Perez finished the session in fourth place ahead of his team mate Nico Hulkenberg in fifth place, Kimi Raikkonen in sixth place and Romain Grosjean in seventh place. Pastor Maldonado ended the session in eighth place ahead of the Williams drivers of Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa who rounded off the top ten finishers of the session.

Fellipe Nasr ended the session in eleventh place ahead of his team mate Marcus Ericsson in twelfth place, Daniel Ricciardo in thirteenth place, Max Verstappen in fourteenth place and Carlos Sainz Jr in fifteenth place.

As we head into the latter stages of the grid, Fernando Alonso finished the session in sixteenth place ahead of the two Manor drivers of Will Stevens and Roberto Merhi finishing in seventeenth and eighteenth places ahead of Jenson Button in nineteenth place and Daniil Kvyat in twentieth place.
