Lewis Hamilton remains quickest in FP2 in Canada

Lewis Hamilton remains quickest in FP2 in Montreal

In the second practice session in Montreal, Lewis Hamilton set the pace ahead of Sebastian Vettel and Nico Rosberg in session which saw the teams and the drivers perfecting their set ups in preparation for qualifying tomorrow and also the race on Sunday
During FP1, Williams driver Felipe Massa brought out the red flag when he crashed at Turn 1(the same corner where he famously collided with Sergio Perez during the 2014 race) but walked away unscathed which was great to see.

However, Massa did say to his team via team radio that he thought he had a problem and lost the rear when he closed the DRS before he spun out of control into the barrier.

Also during the session, traffic was a problem at the final chicane with Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton both being forced to take to the run-off to avoid a slow-moving Max Verstappen and Fernando Alonso respectively.

But it was Lewis Hamilton who was fastest with a lap time of 1.14.212 ahead of Sebastian Vettel in second place who was 0.257 seconds behind him and ahead of his team mate Nico Rosberg in third place who was 0.526 seconds behind Hamilton.

Max Verstappen finished the session in fourth place ahead of Daniel Ricciardo in fifth place, Valtteri Bottas in sixth place, Jenson Button in seventh place, Kimi Raikkonen in eighth place, Nico Hulkenberg in ninth place and Carlos Sainz Jr who rounded off the top ten finishers.

Fernando Alonso ended the session in eleventh place ahead of Sergio Perez in twelfth place, Felipe Massa in thirteenth place, Daniil Kvyat in fourteenth place and Romain Grosjean in fifteenth place.

As we head into the latter stages of the grid, Kevin Magnussen ended the session in sixteenth place ahead of Felipe Nasr in seventeenth place, Esteban Gutierrez in eighteenth place, Marcus Ericsson in nineteenth place, Jolyon Palmer in twentieth place, Pascal Wehrlein in twenty-first place and. Rio Haryanto in twenty-second place.
