Lewis Hamilton leads the way in FP2 in Monza

In the second practice session in Monza, Lewis Hamilton set the pace ahead of Nico Rosberg and Kimi Raikkonen as Mercedes pick up where they left off at Belgium last weekend

Fifty minutes into FP2, Manor Racing driver Esteban Ocon stopped by the first Lesmo corner with suspected problems with his Mercedes power unit or his electrics. This then brought out the Virtual Safety Car in order for the marshals to recover the car as safely as possible.

But it was Lewis Hamilton who was fastest with a lap time of 1:22.801 ahead of Nico Rosberg in second place who was 0.193 seconds behind him and ahead of Sebastian Vettel in third place who was 0.453 seconds behind Hamilton

Kimi Raikkonen finished the session in fourth place ahead of Max Verstappen in fifth place, Daniel Ricciardo in sixth place, Fernando Alonso in seventh place, Valtteri Bottas in eighth place, Romain Grosjean in ninth place and Jenson Button who rounded off the top ten finishers.

Felipe Massa ended the session in eleventh place ahead of Nico Hulkenberg in twelfth place, Sergio Perez in thirteenth place, Esteban Gutierrez in fourteenth place and Marcus Ericsson in fifteenth place.

As we head into the latter stages of the grid, Pascal Wehrlein ended the session in sixteenth place ahead of Carlos Sainz Jr in seventeenth place, Esteban Ocon in eighteenth place, Kevin Magnussen in nineteenth place, Daniil Kvyat in twentieth place, Felipe Nasr in twenty-first place and Jolyon Palmer in twenty-second place
