Lewis Hamilton is quickest in FP1 in Montreal

This afternoon in Montreal, Lewis Hamilton topped the timesheets ahead of his team mate Nico Rosberg and Lotus driver Romain Grosjean.

During the session, we saw Lewis Hamilton spinning his Mercedes at Turns 1 and 10 after locking up his front tyres and spun as a result. He was able to regain control of the car and was able to continue on during the session. We also saw Carlos Sainz Jr and Valtteri Bottas spinning in the session at Turn 1 also and both drivers were able to continue running in the session.

But despite spinning twice in the session it was Lewis Hamilton who topped the timesheets with a laptime of 1.16.212 ahead of Nico Rosberg who finished in second place 0.415 seconds behind him but was ahead of Romain Grosjean in third place who was 1.509 seconds behind the Mercedes of Hamilton.

Nico Hulkenberg finished the session in fourth place ahead of Sebastian Vettel in fifth place, Felipe Massa in sixth place and Daniil Kvyat in seventh place. Pastor Maldonado had a great session and was eighth ahead of Fernando Alonso in ninth place and Max Verstappen who rounded off the top ten finishers.

Valtteri Bottas ended the session in eleventh place ahead of Kimi Raikkonen in twelfth place, Sergio Perez in thirteenth place, Daniel Ricciardo in fourteenth place and Jenson Button in fifteenth place.

As we head into the latter stages of the grid, Felipe Nasr finished the session in sixteenth place ahead of Carlos Sainz Jr in seventeenth place, Marcus Ericsson in eighteenth place and ahead of the two Manor F1 drivers of Roberto Merhi and Will Stevens who ended the session in nineteenth and twentieth place.
