Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes at Goodwood Festival of Speed

LEWIS HAMILTON TO APPEAR AT GOODWOOD FESTIVAL OF SPEED WITH MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS F1 TEAM

British Formula 1 hero Lewis Hamilton will drive at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on June 26-29 as part of Mercedes-Benz's celebration of its 120 years in motor sport.

Hamilton, the 2008 F1 World Champion, will drive a modern grand prix car, run by his regular Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One team, up the Goodwood Hillclimb on the Sunday afternoon of the Festival of Speed.
Twenty-nine-year-old Hamilton, whose four victories this year mean he has won more races than any other F1 driver in the current season, more than lives up to the 2014 Festival of Speed theme: 'Addicted to Winning.'

On top of his 2008 title, he has taken 26 grand prix triumphs and this year took the record for pole positions set by a British driver – which now stands at 35 – from the legendary two-time champion Jim Clark.

He also took titles in Formula Renault, Formula 3 and GP2 on his way to grand prix racing and remains one of only a handful of drivers to have finished on the podium on their F1 debut.

Hamilton is the sixth F1 world champion to confirm his presence at Goodwood. He joins Emerson Fittipaldi, John Surtees, Sir Jackie Stewart, Jenson Button and Kimi Raikkonen in the Festival of Speed line-up.

Mercedes will also bring 16-time grand prix winner Sir Stirling Moss, four-time IndyCar champion Dario Franchitti, DTM legends Roland Asch and Bernd Schneider, Le Mans winners Hans Herrmann, Klaus Ludwig and Jochen Mass and ex-F1 man Karl Wendlinger to the Festival of Speed.
