GP2 – Bahrain Preview

The GP2 series continues in Bahrain this weekend after a one month break, the season having started with two great races at the Malaysian Grand Prix.

Racing Engineering's Fabio Leimer and Rapax's Stefano Coletti grabbed the victories, and Coletti also put himself on the top of the driver standings. There was also drama and crashes, these situations meant penalties for some going to Bahrain: ART driver James Calado will have a grid penalty of 10 positions for causing a collision at the 2nd race in Sepang.

The feature race at Bahrain might be a long one for the Brit, and he surely knows he needs to make his way up to the points so as to not to lose too much to his rivals. Stefano Coletti and Felipe Nasr have collected consistent points so far as both drivers were on the top 4 in the both races at Malaysia.

Keeping tyres in good shape was very important during the weekend, and will still be a factor in Bahrain as weather conditions are similar to Malaysia. The weather will be hot and the sand around the track will be another challenge as the track can be quite dirty from time to time. Pirelli will bring the same tyre compounds to Bahrain as they used in Malaysia: soft and hard compounds. There is also one driver change for the upcoming weekend as Robin Frjins replaces Conor Daly at Hilmer Motorsport.

Will the drivers who had the best pace at Malaysia continue strong at Bahrain? Will there be new winners and new podium visitors? We will find out this weekend. There were many unlucky drivers during the first weekend, so there are still many drivers who have got things to show. Make sure your watching as these young talents are back on the track and racing.
