FP1
The first free practice session saw little action thanks to the wet weather, meaning unfortunately that there was very little to report.
Rain had drenched the circuit from the start, not much help to those who have upgrades to test here at Silverstone. There was a handful of cars that braved the damp conditions early on, Vettel being one of them in the Red Bull, but with an hour gone there were still no times set, but plenty of excursions.
Towards the end of the hour and a half session, the rain had eased meaning a little more track activity, although the track conditions remained very wet meaning the use of the extreme wet tyre. It was certainly challenging for the drivers, Charles Pic found this out to his cost as he hit the wall at Club Corner, which brought his session to an end.
Talking to Johnny Herbert a short time ago, he said FP2 will be dry, and if he is right, as the teams had no chance to test any upgrades with the wet conditions, the second practice session should see a considerable increase in track activity.
News Update:
Kimi Raikkonen is top of the list of drivers to replace Mark Webber next season at Red Bull with some believing the deal may already have been done.
