This morning the Scuderia Ferrari team have launched their 2017 car, the SF70-H, via an online stream.
The Scuderia chose an online launch, broadcasting live from Fiorano where its 2017 challenger will hit the track for the first time later on Friday as part of a filming day.
Team principal Maurizio Arrivabene, chief technical officer Mattia Binotto and race drivers Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen were on stage for the presentation.
Ferrari's car is the latest in a week of F1 unveilings, with its most interesting feature the sharkfin and T-wing at the rear of the car. There were no radical livery changes from previous years, though the race suits worn by Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen featured a slight white trim.
But of most interest will be the rear of the car, especially considering the Mercedes W08 was launched on Thursday without the radical shark fin which has become a characteristic of the new cars. The Mercedes W08 also ran a T-wing on Valtteri Bottas’ car when he took to the circuit in the afternoon at its filming event at Silverstone directly after the car was officially unveiled to the media, suggesting it is considering something similar for the 2017 season.
However, the SF70-H also features very wide, narrow sidepod inlets, radically different to anything seen on the 2017 cars unveiled so far. The car’s nose follows the stubbed end design adopted by each of its rivals except Mercedes.
Ferrari comes into 2017 off the back of a winless 2016, meaning the SF70-H will be tasked with an immediate return to winning ways.
