Dominant Rosberg ends Hamilton's winning streak by winning in Brazil

Yesterday evening we saw Nico Rosberg as well as winning the Pole Position trophy in Brazil this weekend, winning the Brazilian Grand Prix at Interlagos ahead of his team mate and championship rival Lewis Hamilton and ahead of local hero Felipe Massa who finished in third place.

Before the race even began, Adrian Sutil encountered a failure on his turbo and had to start from the pit lane. But in a closely fought Grand Prix at Interlagos yesterday, Rosberg led the race from the beginning until his first pit stop where he handed the lead to his team mate Hamilton.

Rosberg regained the lead after the first pit stops from Hamilton, but before his second pit stop, Hamilton halved the gap that Rosberg had built and once again retook the lead when Rosberg made his pit stop and was pushing hard on the track to retake the lead when he made his pit stop for new tyres.

However, while pushing on the circuit to build up a gap to Rosberg before his pit stop, Hamilton spun on Lap 28 and that was his chance of victory gone as Rosberg retook the lead once again after Hamilton's pit stop. Unless we saw a mistake from Rosberg, Hamilton could not get past him on the track even though Hamilton was never far behind and was continuously pushing Rosberg all the way to the finish line.

Also during the race Felipe Massa and Sergio Perez received five second stop and go penalties for speeding in the pit lane. Valtteri Bottas during his pit stop appeared to be suffering with issues with his seatbelts with the Williams team checking and readjusting them but was able to continue after this.

During Raikkonen's second pit stop, we saw the front jack failing without his front left tyre fitted back onto his Ferrari which cost him valuable time and a few positions on the track.

We also saw battles up and down the field with drivers such as Nico Hulkenberg and Danill Kvyat battling hard with each other and with other drivers such as Sebastian Vettel, Valtteri Bottas and Romain Grosjean for track position.

One of the main battles on the track was in the latter part of the race between the Ferraris of Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso for sixth place, with Alonso pushing Raikkonen hard to get past on track, Raikkonen defended beautifully and kept him at bay which could be a sign that Ferrari could not be employing team orders anymore due to Alonso leaving the team next season potentially to McLaren although nothing has been confirmed from either party as of yet. Alonso was eventually able to get past his team mate and moved up to sixth place.

The move of the day however came from Jenson Button who tried on Lap 61 at Turn 1 to pass Raikkonen for track position but Raikkonen defended well. As both drivers got to Turn 3, Button passed Raikkonen in a fantastic move to move up to fourth. While this was happening, Sebastian Vettel was then also able to pass Raikkonen with a good move and up to fourth place.

Nico Rosberg won the Brazilian Grand Prix ahead of his team mate Lewis Hamilton who finished in second place with Rosberg closing the gap to him by 17 points as we head into the final race of the season in Abu Dhabi where double points are on offer. If Hamilton finishes second behind Rosberg in Abu Dhabi, he will be crowned world champion.

Local hero Felipe Massa finished in third place after a great performance ahead of Jenson Button in fourth place who had a really strong race for McLaren and showed that he still has what it takes to race in Formula One. Button finished ahead of Sebastian Vettel in fifth place and the two Ferrari drivers of Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen in sixth and seventh places.

Nico Hulkenberg had a brilliant drive after battling his way through the grid to eighth place ahead of Kevin Magnussen in ninth place and Valtteri Bottas in tenth place one lap down from Rosberg despite the problems Bottas encountered in his pit stop with his belts on his FW36.

Daniil Kvyat finished the race in eleventh place after battling with a few drivers in the course of the race but he finished ahead of Pastor Maldonado in twelfth place, Jean-Eric Vergne in thirteenth place and Esteban Guiterrez in fourteenth place.

As we head into the latter stages of the grid, Sergio Perez ended the race in fifteenth place after struggling for performance all weekend ahead of Adrian Sutil in sixteenth place.

The two non-finishers of the race were Romain Grosjean who suffered problems with his power unit blowing up on the track in the latter stages of the race and Daniel Ricciardo who suffered suspension failure after problems with his left front brake.
