It was announced this evening that the Berlin ePrix will no longer be held on the Karl Marx Allee as it was in the 2016 season; despite tickets for the race already being on sale.
The local authorities have disallowed the event from taking place in the centre of Berlin (due to take place on June 10), as the disruption to the city that is caused by the necessary road closures and setting up of the track was considered too great.
An alternative location is currently being sought, although Formula E's options are unknown with cancellation of the event still possible.
It is the second year in succession that the Berlin ePrix has had to seek a new location after the Tempelhof Airport, which hosted the race in 2015, became a home for refugees.
The official word on the ePrix is expected on Monday from the FIA and the Berlin ePrix organisers.
