2016/17 Formula E Team Preview: Mahindra

The Mahindra Formula E team enters their third season of Formula E with an exciting driver line-up, pre-season promise and very big ambitions.

They struggled in their first season of the series with a best result of fourth and eighth place in the Teams' Championship courtesy of their drivers Bruno Senna and Karun Chandhok. The Indian left the team after just one season and he was replaced by Nick Heidfeld who made an instant impact by scoring the teams' maiden podium in the season opener in Beijing.

Both Senna and Heidfeld also earned the team's first ever double points finish in the second round and continued their strong form with another podium in London and by the end of the season, they had accumulated 105 points and ended up fifth in the Teams' Championship with Heidfeld and Senna 10th and 11th in the Drivers' Championship.

This year, the Indian team have signed highly rated Swedish driver Felix Rosenqvist to partner the returning Nick Heidfeld and I say to say it will be interesting to see how both drivers get on with each other and also how they will push each other on the track this season.

My prediction for the Mahindra team this season is that I really do think that the team will challenge at the midfield consistency during the season. I feel that this season could the year that the team get their another victory in the series but only if we have a really adventurous ePrix but will challenge for podiums on a consistent basis.

As for their Constructors championship position; I would say that the Mahindra team will end up either fifth or sixth at the end of the season and will have a battle with Dragon Racing and Andretti all season long.
