2016/17 Formula E calendar confirmed

Yesterday, the World Motor Sport Council confirmed a revised FIA Formula E season three calendar at a meeting in Paris.

The biggest change from the previous calendar released at the London ePrix in July is that the Montreal and New York ePrix have been swapped, so Montreal will now become the season finale of the championship.

The New York ePrix (the layout was announced last week) will take place on July 15/16. However, there remains a clash with the 6 Hours of Nurburgring, in which several Formula E drivers will be competing, including Lucas di Grassi and Sebastien Buemi.

But Formula E as a series now faces the challenge of having to revolve their series around major world cities. This therefore makes it harder for the series to make rearrangements to avoid clashes with the World Endurance Championship.

Apart from a few slight changes, all the dates seen on the previous provisional calendar remain. The two TBAs, one of which expected to be a replacement for Battersea Park to host the London race have now been removed.
